If you own a dog, today’s show will affect you. I really enjoyed this show, no technical problems, absolutely fantastic guests, and discussion on a very important topic – Pet legislation. If you voted in our recent election in the USA and own a pet you have a voice that can help pets around the country! Now ok, I didn’t see any Dog or pet issues on my ballot but that does not mean that they do not exist. It is important for all of us to know about laws that our representatives and elected officials propose around the country that affect responsible dog owners sometimes at the hand of a few irresponsible owners. Not only that, but there are also puppy mills and other commercial breeders that keep animals in unbelievable conditions for the almighty buck!

Lisa Peterson – Director of Communications for the American Kennel Club discusses the involvement of the AKC in legislation around the country. Lisa talks in depth about how the AKC is a “club for clubs” and about the legislative liasons the AKC has in all 50 states where they provide input to Federal, State, and Local authorities on issues for responsible dog legislation. The AKC also has a set of Government Relation Position Statements The AKC has without a doubt one of the finest Web Sites on the net today. If you are even thinking of possibly getting a dog you MUST research their site.
Our new segment – SHELTER OF THE WEEK – MIDWEST BOSTON TERRIER RESCUEÂ - OHIO
Our goal with this weekly segment is to feature rescue, shelters, dog pounds, humane societies, animal welfare, and fostering organizations in all 50 states. If you know of a shelter in your area (in the USA) have them contact us so we can feature them!
Our inaugural segment is near and dear to my heart because Butch is a Boston terrier which makes him related to all of the BTs that need Erika Meyer of the Ohio faction of the Midwest Boston Terrier Rescue organization talks about adoption programs, the adoption procedure, costs associated, and if you are looking for a new pet for Christmas you better listen to this show! They also have a “Senior to Senior” program! They also have puppies! Because I know how much I love Butch, I know how fast a Boston terrier can wiggle its way into your heart. Please adopt!
