HAPPY THANKSGIVING 2009 FROM MBB RADIO!
TAAA! DAAA! Well it just figures, all the prep and all the work only to have a piece of equipment fry on us during the first few seconds of the show! Well we forged ahead anyway! Now if you listened to the show you heard the echo so what I have done is edit down the show and had it replaced with the better version as of Friday Nov. 27th at 3pm. Please feel free to redownload the show!
It was great fun to talk with David and John over the last couple of weeks. They bring so much knowledge and style to the dog show each year that it was an honor to get their opinions and insight for this traditional Thanksgiving event for the My Buddy Butch Talk Show! Each year David and John fill us in on the latest happenings in the dog world and this year was no exception. Listen in on what these guys are up to and don’t forget to check out the show coverage on the NBC Web Site!
We were also joined by Tiffany Simons who did the sideline reporting for the broadcast. Tiffany has been reporting for NBC Sports so you may recognize her from The 2009 Westminster Dog Show as well as some other small events like SuperBowl XLI and XLII! Tiffany made the rounds in the benching area to cut a few vids with the owners and handlers getting their dogs ready for the ring. Tiffany shares her experience with us on the MBB Radio show and tells us her plans for future shows. We look forward to talking to her again as she will be at Westminster again in 2010!
I was able to catch up with John Miller who is VP of NBC Sports, and the man behind the National Dog Show, in the Press Room at the Philadelphia Expo Center. John shared with me the original idea and how everyone worked together to bring us this annual family tradition for the last 8 years! The National Dog Show Presented by Purina!
We also had Pam Mayes of the Alabama Pug Rescue with us who is the 2009 winner of Purina’s “Doing More For Pet’s Rescue Stories Contest.” Told us the heartbreaking story of “Faith,” a Boxer that had been neglected for weeks after being hit by a car. Listen to this great story with a truly happy ending!

RESCUE SHELTER OF THE WEEK
Dr. Jo-Anne Dixon of The Animal Shelter of Wood River Valley joins us this week to talk about the great work they are doing in this very caring community in Idaho. This is the first “no-kill” shelter in the State of Idaho! They promote companion animal welfare by providing temporary shelter for homeless animals, adopting them out to qualified homes and reducing animal abuse, neglect , and overpopulation through community education and spay/neuter services. See thier Web Site to see the amazing care they take with these animals and how you can help.

This week Dr. Patrick gives us a few reminders for our Thanksgiving Day festivities and how to have a healthy day with Fido! He reminds us all to “Give Thanks For our Pet’s Health this Thanksgiving!” Check out his article on this subject!
It was so nice to hear from Dr. Donna Spector. As most of you know Dr. Donna delivered a beautiful baby girl in October and Mom, Dad, Big Brother, and Baby are all doing just great! Dr. Donna stopped in to wish us a Happy Thanksgiving and talk to us a bit about calculating your dog’s age. The old 7 year multiplier does not apply across the board for all dogs! See more about Dog Aging at the ASPCA Web Site!
