Jeff Dorson of the Louisiana Humane Society is no stranger to helping animals. Now they are working on the latest disaster to hit the New Orleans area, The Gulf Oil Spill. In fact, Jeff was also heavily involved with the Hurricane Katrina disaster that hit New Orleans and flooded the gulf states. They still have animals that they are trying to adopt that they saved from Katrina. They really need help there as they try to save as many birds and animals as they can in this difficult situation. THey are also teaming up with other orgs in the area such as the Clear Water Sanctuary in Bush Louisiana. Please try and help them if you can and see their Web Site for information on adopting one of the older dogs that they have from Katrina. This would be a big help.

As the Gulf Oil Spill takes it toll on the ecology and wildlife in the area with seemingly no end in sight Dr. Kim Bloomer joins us to talk about how the ongoing devastation in the area is affecting humans as well as pets. There are some who are just unable to cope with the disaster and their pets are feeling the pain. She discusses some of the cases that she sees in her practice.
