This week – Hour 1 – National Geographic’s award winning series Alaska State Troopers is now in it’s third season. Dan Stern, writer and executive producer of the series joins Jeff to talk about what it is like spending a whole year in Alaska to film the series and some of the things that they had to deal with. Personally, Jeff doesn’t know if he could handle the “midnight sun” in Alaska in the summer time! They also talk about some of the upcoming episodes. Dr. Shelly Rubin is past president of the American Heartworm Society and used to be Oprah’s choice for a veterinarian before she moved to California to run her network. He stops by to talk a bit about flea, tick, heartworm preventatives and remedies. After a recent tv news report by Cleveland’s ABC affiliate, that over-the-counter remedies have caused serious illness and death to some pets, Jeff wants to dig into this possibility with Dr. Rubin.
Hour 2
Vickie Fisher is the President of The International Cat Association and she joins Jeff to talk about their involvement in the “Meet The Breeds” show at the Javits Center in New York City in November. This is a great function for the whole family because there are not only cats but the AKC is also involved and so there are many breeds of dogs exhibited also! Dogs and Cats under the same roof is sure to be and exciting time and Vickie tell us about it! Big Cat Week Starts on December 11th on Nat Geo Wild.
